Abstract:V magistrski nalogi predstavljamo koncept strasti do dela, ki spada v področje managementa človeških virov. Strast do dela vsebuje dve dimenziji, tj. harmonično in obsesivno strast do dela.

Title:Generation Y and their Passion at Work
Abstract:In the master thesis, the concept of passion at work is introduced. The topic belongs to the field of management of human resource and it is closely related with psychology. The present thesis aims to determine the level of the passion at work of the generation Y (millennials), born between 1980 and 1994. Based on dualistic approach for the concept of passion the systematic literature review and the bibliometric analysis were performed. In this vein, passion at work has two dimensions: harmonious passion at work and obsessive passion at work. People with harmonious passion at work choose to do their work freely, voluntarily and they have control over their work. However, when work controls the individual, we talk about obsessive passion at work. On this basis, positive and negative consequences of the passion at work are introduced. The basic characteristics of the generation Y, their characteristics at working place and appropriate human resource management are presented as well. In the empirical part of the thesis, quantitative research was conducted. The data were collected by written questionnaire and we gained feedback from 270 members of the generation Y. They have been working in Slovenia at least for one year. The results revealed that members of the generation Y have higher level of harmonious passion at work than level of obsessive passion at work. More specifically, the results show that the highest level of harmonious passion at work have those millennials, who work in lower or middle management and those who are permanently employed. Special attention is needed for the individuals of generation Y who work in private sector in lower or top management, because the level of obsessive passion at work is higher in comparison with other individuals in the sample. The findings can help managers or executives in different organizations at successful human resource management. It is important that executives can keep or take care of harmonious passion at work among their workers and prevent or reduce the level of obsessive passion at work.
