Title:Sokrates about Knowledge: Similarity and Differences by Xenophon and Plato
Abstract:Due to the fact that Socrates himself didn't leave any written records, in the diploma, the author of the text wanted to present sources of Socrates's teachings written by his followers. Accordingly, works of two followers, Xenophon and Plato, were chosen. The research dealt with their understanding of knowledge and wisdom as thought by Socrates. Furthermore Xenophon's and Plato's view of Socrates is compared. Highlighted are also similarities and differences as well as the arguments both authors presented referring to the notion of knowledge and wisdom. In the diploma two of Socrates's paradoxes were also defined and supported by Santasos's arguments. In the research, the following methods have been used descriptive and comparative method, analysis and synthesis. The results have shown that according to Socrates's teaching knowledge can be divided to human and God achievable. The most important of human achievable knowledge is the knowledge of good and evil, because handling accordingly brings wisdom and happiness. On the contrary, human who act unjustly, are most unhappy. The reason of the unjust conduct is the evil in human soul. This can be remedied with the just punishment. Humans who are just and don't carry evil in their soul will spend their life after death on the Island of the Blessed. In the diploma both hypotheses have been confirmed. The results of the research have shown, that the notion of knowledge is not possible to define. Also, just handling doesn't result from knowledge about good and evil, although Socrates states good arguments that it does.
