Abstract:V letih od 2002 do 2009 smo na Univerzitetnem centru za vinogradništvo in vinarstvo (Meranovo) Fakultete za kmetijstvo in biosistemske vede Univerze v Mariboru proučevali vpliv podlage 'Börner' in še devetih drugih podlag ('Kober 5BB', 'SO4 kl. 31', 'Riparia', 'SO4 kl. 5', '196/17', 'SO4 kl. 102', '41B/72', 'SO4 kl. 15' in 'Kober 5BB kl. 13/5') na nekatere biometrične in fiziološke parametre sorte 'Sauvignon' na kislih tleh.

Title:The influence of rootstock 'Börner' on different biometrical and physiological parameters of the cv. 'Sauvignon' on acid soils
Abstract:Between 2002 and 2009 the University Centre of Viticulture and Wine (Meranovo) of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Maribor researched the influence of the 'Börner' rootstock and nine other rootstocks ('Kober 5BB', 'SO4 cl. 31', 'Riparia', 'SO4 cl. 5', '196/17', 'SO4 cl. 102', '41B/72', 'SO4 cl. 15' and 'Kober 5BB cl. 13/5') on some biometric and physiological parameters of the cv. 'Sauvignon' on acid soils. During the trial period, the largest fertility potential was held by the '41B/72' rootstock, which produced the largest grape yield in all the trial years, 3.3 kg per vine, and differed from most other rootstocks in terms of this parameter. Differences in yield by years were also confirmed. The largest yield was recorded in 2003, followed by 15% less in 2004 and 60% less in 2005. The 'Börner' rootstock also had an impact on the greater mass of grape yield compared to the '196/17', 'Riparia', 'SO4 cl. 31' and 'SO4 cl. 102' rootstocks. Compared to the standard 'Kober 5BB' rootstock, no differences were established (p ≤ 0.05). There were also differences in the mechanical composition of grapes of the cv. 'Sauvignon' between the rootstocks. Compared to some other rootstocks, the 'Börner' rootstock produced a larger mass of grapes and mass of stems, while the mass of 100 berries was also larger by 13% to 28%. The rootstocks had the most impact on the number and mass of seeds in the dry year of 2003 when the most differences were observed. The rootstocks also influenced the vegetative parameters of the cv. 'Sauvignon', while differences between the vintages were established in terms of the mass of cane dry weight. The '196/17' rootstock, which is classified as a vigorous rootstock, had the largest cane dry weight. When taking into account the minor differences in grape yield we can assume that the 'SO4 cl. 5' and 'SO4 cl. 102' rootstocks cannot be classified as less vigorous rootstocks. In terms of vigour, the 'Börner' rootstock is comparable to most tested rootstocks; the '196/17' and 'SO4 cl. 5' rootstocks were more vigorous, whereas the 'Riparia' rootstock was less vigorous . The rootstocks and vintages also had an impact on the average percentage of cane dry weight (49.4%); for most rootstocks, the canes only contained the optimum dry matter percentage in 2003. The Ravaz index values did not differ for vines on the 'Börner' rootstock compared to other rootstocks. On none of the dates did the rootstocks have an impact on the N content in the leaves (p ≤ 0.05). In terms of grape juice chemical composition it was established that the 'Börner' rootstock, compared to other rootstocks, did not have an impact on the sugar content and only differed in terms of pH value from the '41B/72' rootstock. The 'Börner' rootstock influenced the lower content of total acidity in grape juice compared to three clones of the 'SO4' rootstock ('SO4 cl. 5', 'SO4 cl. 102' and 'SO4 cl. 15') and the 'Kober 5BB cl. 13/5' rootstock. In 2003, the average content of total acidity was lower by 25% compared to 2005 and by 35% compared to 2002. Compared to some other rootstocks, the content of tartaric, malic and citric acid was also lower. A higher FAN and total nitrogen content in grape juice of the cv. 'Sauvignon' was established for vines on the 'SO4 cl. 102' and '196/17' rootstocks than for the 'Börner' rootstock, whereas no differences were established in terms of proline content (p ≤ 0.05). In all the test years, the rootstocks also had an impact on the mineral composition of the grape juice. The 'Börner' rootstock produced a lower potassium content in grape juice compared to the '196/17' rootstock, higher magnesium content compared to 'SO4 cl. 15' and 'Kober 5BB cl. 13/5' and a lower calcium content compared to the 'Riparia' rootstock. A strong positive correlation (r = 0.83; p < 0.001) was established between the potassium content and the total acidity content in grape juice of the 'Börner' rootstock.
