V teoretičnem delu so opisani in opredeljeni naslednji pojmi: komunikacija, samozavest, samopodoba in samospoštovanje. Z anketo smo želeli ugotoviti, kako odrasli komunicirajo z otroki, kakšne meje jim postavljajo in ali otrok prevzema vedenje nekoga drugega. Podatke s pomočjo spletnega anektiranja smo obdelali s SPSS programom (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) in jih prikazali tabelarično.

Title:Communication and self-confidence among pre-school children
Abstract:Thesis entitled Communication and Self-confidence among Pre-school Children is divided into theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part the following terms are defined: communication, self-confidence, self-esteem and self-respect. Communication is presented as one of the main components of verbal interaction between people. Furthermore, it is described how adults and professional workers should communicate in order to establish positive self-confidence of a child, as it is important for a healthy adult life. In addition, it is represented how parents and pre-school teachers should approach the conflict with the use of proper words, mimics and self-expression; how to respond to a certain problem; and how to handle a difficult situation without any negative consequences that could affect child’s self-esteem. Self-confidence, self-esteem and self-respect are three essential elements that are intertwined and closely linked. So it is important for adults to correctly approach each of these elements to enable children to develop into self-confident individuals. In the empirical part the results of the survey are presented. The sample includes parents, pre-school teachers, and assistants of pre-school teachers, who work in the area of Drava Statistical Region. Based on the questionnaire we wanted to determine how adults communicate with children, how they set boundaries, and whether children adopt other people’s behaviour. The data was analysed with SPSS programme (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) and presented in a tabular manner.
