Title:Influence of season on milk composition
Abstract:In the present work we evaluated the influence of the season on milk composition based on data obtained from The Ptuj Institute, which belongs to the laboratory network governed by The Slovenian Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry. Data were routinely collected within the AT4 control (milk production control) during a period of ten years (2004-2014) in the area of Ptuj, Celje and Novo Mesto. Data from milk analyses described by fat, protein, lactose, urea and somatic cell content were statistically evaluated. The influence on these parameters was analysed depending on the dietary regime (winter, summer feed), season (spring, summer, autumn, winter) and geographical regions. The results showed that milk parameters change according to the dietary regime as well as the season, and surprisingly, even between geographically close regions. A positive correlation between fat and urea content as well as the number of somatic cells over the years in the analysed period was determined in Novo Mesto, while these variables were monotonously correlated in Celje and Ptuj regions.
