Title:Influence of culture on business negotiations, example: Great Britain
Abstract:In the diploma thesis we focused on influence of culture on business negotiations. We defined culture with all the elements which impact the characteristics of individuals that participate on negotiations. We were interested in how cultural differences influence our chances for successful cooperation with our business partners. Negotiation process was described in detail as we presented it step by step, exposing dangerous points in negotiations that can make or break a deal. After defining culture and looking at the theory of negotiations we presented the culture of Great Britain. We looked for specifics in different elements of their culture to understand their culture itself and more importantly their negotiation style. All these information helped us form a summary of the negotiation process in Great Britain. We have found that British people are very tolerant, retained negotiators that respect tradition. Pressuring them during negotiations or approaching them with suspicious intents will leave us empty handed. A great measure of patience is needed if we are to adapt to the British interesting combination of formalities and interest in long-term business relationships.
