Abstract:Področje socialno-emocionalnega razvoja je eno pomembnejših področij v razvoju predšolskega otroka.

Title:Developmental milestones of socioemotional development in preschool period
Abstract:The field of socioemotional development is one of the most important areas in the development of preschool children. In the theoretical part of the thesis milestones of social and emotional development are presented. They help professionals in organizing a stimulating environment, planning appropriate activities for a group of children or an individual child and they stimulate social and emotional development. It is very important what kind of incentives and possibilities are offered to a child by professionals, since they affect socioemotional development. The empirical part of the thesis consists of a study (N = 180), confirming that professionals are less familiar with the developmental milestones for the socioemotional field. Namely the proportions of the correct answers for the areas dealing with attachment, emotional expression, self-perception, relationship with adults and peers were mostly under 50%. Those who have more than 10 years of work experience have achieved slightly better results in understanding the milestones than those with less than 10 years of work experience; there were no job-related differences. The research is important for educating professionals in preschool education and in terms of using methods for promoting children’s socioemotional development, which is a key factor in the successful integration of children into school and the wider social environment.
