Abstract:V magistrskem delu smo ugotavljali odnos študentov do prehrane, zlasti do alternativnih načinov prehranjevanja ter njihove prehranjevalne navade.

Title:Students knowledge of alternative eating metods
Abstract:In this master’s thesis, we examined students’ eating habits, their attitude towards a healthy diet and alternative diets. We also examined the correlation between eating habits and deficiency of iron or calcium and chronic diseases. The empirical part presents the results acquired through a survey questionnaire that was distributed among 200 students from four faculties of the University of Maribor and 50 students of the Wood Technology School of the Higher Vocational College Maribor. Out of all included in the survey, there were 233 omnivores. According to the recommendations for a balanced diet, the results suggest that 27% of students do not eat enough fruit and vegetables and 52.4% rarely eat fish. Too much meat and meat products are consumed by 61.2% of students and unhealthy snacks by 45.6%. We discovered that the type of diet does not affect the occurrence of chronic diseases, but there is a correlation between the type of diet and the deficiency of iron or calcium, since those on alternative diets experience such problems more frequently. We also checked the level of agreement with the claims about the fondness of alternative diets and subsidized student meals. The results suggest that students are not drawn towards claims that reflect favoritism to alternative diets.
