Abstract:V magistrskem delu smo analizirali slovenske in nemške prevode religioznih kulturnospecifičnih elementov oziroma realij v romanih Angels and Demons (2000) in The Da Vinci code (2003) avtorja Dana Browna. Analizirali smo slovenska prevoda Angeli in demoni (2013) in Da Vincijeva šifra (2005) prevajalke Nataše Müller in ju primerjali z nemškima prevodoma romana Angeli in demoni Iluminati (2004) prevajalca Axela Merza in Da Vincijeve šifre Sakrileg (2007) prevajalca Pieta van Polla. V teoretičnem delu so navedene različne definicije in klasifikacije kulturnospecifičnih elementov in koncept prevajalskih norm Gideona Touryja, v nadaljevanju so še opredeljene prevajalske strategije po Moni Baker in Petru Newmarku. V empiričnem delu smo angleški izvirnik primerjali s slovenskima in nemškima prevodoma, jim določili prevajalske strategije in komentirali njihovo ustreznost glede na izvirnik. Analiza je pokazala, da so se prevajalci največ posluževali strategije dobesednega prevoda in da so v večini primerov ustrezno prenesli kulturnospecifične elemente v ciljni jezik.

Title:Religious Cultural-Specific Realia in Slovene and German Translations of Dan Brown's Novels
Abstract:In the thesis we analysed translation of religious cultural-specific elements or realia in Slovene and German translations of the novels Angels and Demons (2000), and The Da Vinci Code (2003) by Dan Brown. We analysed Slovene translations of Angels and Demons, from the year 2013, and The Da Vinci Code, from the year 2005, by Nataša Müller and compared them to German translations of Angels and Demons (Iluminati, from the year 2004), translated by Axel Merz, and The Da Vinci Code (Sakrileg, from the year 2007), translated by Piet van Poll. In the theoretical part we explored various definitions and classifications of cultural-specific elements and Gideon Toury’s concept of translation norms, followed by the definition of translation strategies of Mona Baker and Peter Newmark. In the empirical part we compared originals with Slovene and German translations, defined translation strategies and commented on the adequacy of the translation as compared to the original. The analysis showed that the translators most often used a word for word translation strategy and that in most cases religious cultural-specific elements were transferred adequately.
