Title:Incidence and management of stress among students of nursing care
Abstract:Objectives: Every individual experiences stress in everyday life that can make them feel threatened. Stress already occurs during education and is a part of students' daily lives. The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence of stress and stress management strategies among nursing students. Research methods: The research was based on a quantitative methodology. We used a descriptive method of work. Data was collected by means of a questionnaire. A chi-square and binomial test were used to analyze the hypotheses. Results: In study, 74.1% of students rated moderate stress. According to gender, the results showed that both students experienced similar level of stress (χ2 = 1.252; p = 0.535). Similar levels of stress were also reported by full-time and part-time students (χ2 = 2.531; p = 0.282). Third-year students reported higher levels of stress compared to first-year students (χ2 = 11,970; p = 0.003). Discussion and conclusion: Nursing students face academic and clinical stressors in addition to their day-to-day problems. Most of them use positive stress management mechanisms. Successful stress management helps to reduce the negative impact on health.
