Drugi del prinaša vpogled v vsebino in jezik zasebnih dnevniških zapisov z naslovom Na rimskih tleh, ki so tokrat prvič v celoti javno objavljeni.

Title:The linguistic image of diary notes of bishop Maksimiljan Držečnik
Abstract:The Master's thesis presents the bishop Maksimiljan Držečnik (1903–1978) and his diary entries from his student years which he wrote between 1927 and 1931. The first part of the thesis presents the life and work of bishop Držečnik which is highlighted with new information that completes or corrects the already existing records on the bishop’s life. The second part of the thesis brings insight into the content and language of the private diary entries called “On the Romans’ Ground” which have been now made publicly available in their entirety for the first time. The entries highlight the student life of Držečnik and his studies, and they also reveal his attachment to his family, home and hometown, and his broad knowledge. A diplomatic transcription is included in the thesis based on a manuscript, and this is the starting point for the analysis at the level of orthography, phonetics, morphology, lexis, and style. The findings suggest that the author considerably followed the contemporary standard language norm with departures noticeable only at specific places. The text analysis shows the rich vocabulary of Držečnik, and that he made a prudent choice of the word selection; he also included religious terminology and Latin quotes especially. His writing style is mostly poetic, with the abundant use of stylistic devices, but it is also telegraphic at times. The considered diary entries present an important documentary archive, and their diplomatic transcription can facilitate potential further research.
