Abstract:Z rastočo tematiko okoljevarstvenih težav je avtomobilska industrija primorana implementirati številne ukrepe, kot so znižati potrošnjo goriva, zmanjšati neželene izpuste in celo hrup vozila. Rezultati simulacij so bili primerjani z meritvami obstoječega izpušnega sistema.

Title:Numerical analysis of exhaust gas flow and thermal analysis of exhaust manifold
Abstract:With the growing topic of environmental issues, the automotive industry is required to implement various measures, such as reduce fuel consumption, reduce the amount of pollutants in exhaust gasses and even noise levels. Computational fluid dynamics are undoubtedly a major driving force in the development of technological innovations, as it provides insight into physical phenomena, that is unachievable with conventional experimental methods, or is simply too expensive. The thesis introduces the numerical analysis of an exhaust system’s thermal load. The process is split into two parts: the analysis of the exhaust gas flow and the thermal analysis of the exhaust system structural components. All simulations were computed using the AVL FIRE™ CFD finite volume method software package. Finally, the results of the simulations were compared with the experimental results.
Keywords:Computational fluid dynamics, finite volume method, exhaust system, catalytic converter, heat transfer, thermal analysis, AVL FIRE
