Nekaj staršev meni do 2. leta (22,4 %) in do 6. meseca (14,1 %). Razprava in sklep: Dojenje zahteva veliko spretnosti in znanja. Imeti morajo podporo partnerja in družine.

Title:Parents´ opinion on when to stop breastfeeding
Abstract:Summary Introduction: Breast milk is the best food for a baby, as it is composed in such a way that it is ideal for the growth and development of the infant. The WHO recommends that children should be exclusively breast-fed until 6 months of age. This should be continued until 2 years of age and beyond with corresponding supplement nutrition and if it feels appropriate to the mother and child. Methods: A quantitative method of work was used in the final part. The results were obtained using a survey questionnaire. The survey involved 274 respondents who have at least one child. The results were analyzed using IBM SPSS 24.0 and edited and displayed in the form of tables and charts using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Results: The results of the survey showed that most mothers breastfeed their babies (98 %); however, only 68.6 % of babies are exclusively breast-fed upon discharge from the hospital. Parents have different views regarding how long mothers should breastfeed infants. According to more than half of the surveyed parents (53.9 %), the answer is up to 1 year. A large percentage of them also believe breastfeeding is appropriate until up to 2 years of infants’ age (22.4 %) or up to 6 months (14.1 %). Discussion and conclusion: Breastfeeding requires a lot of skills and knowledge. Despite the many problems that arise, mothers must be persistent. They need to have the support from both their partners and families. Many women are still under-informed and, as a result, stop breastfeeding sooner than they would otherwise.
