Abstract:Namen magistrskega dela je opozoriti na ksenofobično in nestrpno terminologijo v komentarjih bralcev izbranih slovenskih in avstrijskih spletnih časopisov. Analizirali smo komentarje člankov, ki poročajo o dveh ženskah v političnem svetu – o nekdanji slovenski kohezijski ministrici Angeliki Mlinar in avstrijski pravosodni ministrici Almi Zadić. Nestrpni in ksenofobični komentarji so usmerjeni predvsem proti državljanom nekdanje Jugoslavije in migrantom. Od avstrijskih časopisov vsebuje največ nestrpnih komentarjev dnevni časopis Kurier, komentarji so usmerjeni predvsem proti muslimanom ter migrantom in državljanom nekdanje Jugoslavije.

Title:Xenophobia in Readers' Comments in Slovene and Austrian Online Media about Angelika Mlinar and Alma Zadić
Abstract:The purpose of this master’s thesis is to draw attention to xenophobic and intolerant terminology in reader’s comments of selected Slovenian and Austrian online newspapers. We attempt to emphasize the importance of the relationship between language and social power, abuse and inequality, thus we highlight the power held by the social elites, which spread their ideology through media, and shape the individual's opinion, and consequently social values, norms and beliefs. Because of online media we spend more and more time online and consequently express our impatience in the form of online newspaper comments. Therefore, we decided to analyse the readers’ comments of the Slovenian online newspapers Večer, Delo and Slovenske novice, as well as the Austrian online newspapers Kleine Zeitung, der Kurier and Kronen Zeitung. We analysed the comments on articles reporting on two women in the political world - the former Slovenian Cohesion Minister Angelika Mlinar and the Austrian Minister of Justice Alma Zadić. The theoretical framework is based on the critical discursive analysis of T. van Dijk, N. Fairclough and R. Wodak, the model of xenophobia by B. Simonovits, the model of hate speech according to B. Vezjak and M. Sardoč, and incivility according to K. Coen. We determined that among the selected online newspapers the majority of intolerant comments were in the Slovenian newspaper Večer. Intolerance being directed mainly against the citizens of the former Yugoslavia and migrants. Of the Austrian newspapers the daily newspaper Kurier contains the most intolerant comments, directed mainly against Muslims, migrants and citizens of the former Yugoslavia.
