Abstract:V magistrskem delu po analizi virov raziskujemo delo in življenje Tomaža Šegule.

Title:The Influence of Tomaž Šegula on the Evolution of Slovenian Guitar Pedagogy
Abstract:This master thesis explores the life and work of Tomaž Šegula by analysing the available resources. It takes a closer look at his pedagogical work, which includes one of the most important series of classical guitar books in Slovenia. The thesis analyses his beginner's book The Young Guitarist 1 (Mladi kitarist 1), a collection of pieces The Young Guitarist 2, parts 1 and 2, The Young Guitarist 3, parts 1 and 2, the etudes collections The Young Guitarist 2 and The Young Guitarist 3, as well as technical exercises The Young Guitarist 2 and The Young Guitarist 3 for music schools. The methodology employed is the research of sources providing information on the life and the pedagogical work of Tomaž Šegula, as well as the analysis of his schools, and the works of some of the most important music pedagogues that were either students or teachers of Šegula in Slovenia. The analysis of Šegula's work is based on the overview of various books and articles, Šegula's interview with Miran Stergulec, and a piece aired on Radio-Television Ljubljana. An additional interview was set up with Šegula and Andrej Grafenauer for the purpose of this thesis. The empirical part of the thesis consists of research involving guitar teachers from music schools around Slovenia. The research is focused on the different experiences with incorporating The Young Guitarist books in lessons, and the teachers' views on their effectiveness in terms of age groups. It was found that most guitar teachers use The Young Guitarist books for their lessons, that the books help students get familiar with the basics of the curriculum and that the prevailing view is that most Young Guitarist books are partially suitable and should be paired with other music literature.
Keywords:Slovenian guitar pedagogy, music education, guitar, guitar books.
