Title:Confronting past global crisis and readiness for the "covid-19" crisis in aluminium production firms
Abstract:In 2020, companies faces the COVID-19 crisis, which is slightly from previous crises. We have briefly reviewed past economic crises, their causes and consequences. In thesis, we made a comparison between the readiness of companies for the financial crisis in 2008, which affected the entire world economy and the readiness for the upcoming COVID-19 crisis in 2020 and future. Our main interests were key indicators we use to assess the performance of companies. Also, we wanted to find out the impact of the crisis on the companies and what consequences the last economic crisis had in the entire period from 2007 to 2011. Until 2011 most of the countries and companies have already come out of the crisis. The COVID-19 crisis is certainly different from previous crises. State aid and state over-indebtedness are a matter of concern. In our opinion, the real consequences are not detected yet. Mainly due to the measures that the countries are currently implementing. In the analysis, we showed that companies are less successful than they were in 2007 on average, ie before the financial crisis in the period 2008-2010, but they improved liquidity and the debt-equity financing ratio in 2019. The number of employees in the observed companies and the period is steadily declining, which is certainly a bad sign for the unemployment rate. We also found that size has no effect on the success of overcoming the crisis, nor can we argue that a country's performance measured through GDP / capita affects a company's performance
