Metode: Za pripravo zaključnega dela smo sistematično pregledali, analizirali in sintetizirali znanstveno in strokovno literaturo. Literaturo smo iskali v mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah Sage, Web of Science, CINAHL in Medline.

Title:Decisions of pregnant women for prenatal testing to detect genetic defect: invasive and non-invasive methods
Abstract:Introduction: It is essential on the basis of which factors pregnant women decide to accept or refuse prenatal testing, as this way healthcare professionals can better understand the reasons for accepting or refusing and can more easily present to pregnant women the possibilities of other forms of testing. Methods: For the preparation of the final work, we systematically reviewed, analyzed and synthesized scientific and professional literature. We searched the literature in the international databases Sage, Web of Science, CINAHL and Medline. When searching for data, we limited ourselves to articles in English based on qualitative and quantitative methodology. During the review, we followed the recommendations of the search for sources according to PRISMA. The critical assessment was performed using the Joanna Briggs Institute tool. Results: We included 13 articles in the analysis. We found that pregnant women mostly make decisions based on their own experience. They opt for prenatal testing primarily with the intent of doing whatever is offered to them to ensure the birth of a healthy baby. It is important that healthcare professionals provide correct and professional information in order for the pregnant woman to make the right decision. Discussion and conclusion: It is important for women to be aware of the opportunities offered to them and then opt for prenatal testing based on expertise rather than lay information. There are certainly risks to prenatal tests, but only these are negligible compared to the benefits that such tests offer.
