Abstract:Prireja mleka ima v Sloveniji dolgo tradicijo.

Title:Milk yield comparison of primiparous holstein cows based on their origin
Abstract:Milk production has a long tradition in Slovenia. Cattle breeding has been concentrated and specialized since the mid-1990s, which is reflected in a reduction in the number of breeders, an increase in the average herd size per farm, an increase in the milk yield per cow and a higher milk quality. In Slovenia, we are facing an unregulated market for breeding livestock, which is a big problem for farmers who want to buy larger numbers of breeding heifers. To avoid this, more and more farmers are buying breeding heifers abroad in hope that they will buy genetically superior animals than in Slovenia. In our research, we tried to determine whether there are differences in the production traits of primiparous cows that were imported from Denmark as pregnant heifers compared to Slovenian peers. In 2019, Farm A and Farm B, each imported 17 pregnant Holstein heifers from Denmark, with the aim of increasing the number of animals and improving their genetic potential. We found that Danish heifers calved statistically significantly (P
