Title:Designing a pedagogical student diary
Abstract:The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the research of modern strategies for classroom teaching, modern approaches to teaching, and learning which includes critical thinking, active and personalised learning, formative student assessment and student participation. The empirical part of the thesis presents the idea of The Pedagogical Student Diary as a tool and aid in such pedagogical and educational approaches to upbringing and education since it further stresses the reflexion of pedagogical and educational work – both for the educationalist as well as for the student. For the educationalist, it represents personal and professional growth, while it makes the students aware of their own learning system, thus fostering a development of competencies for life-long learning of the individual. Together, through a cooperative relationship, the educationalist and the student create an environment which allows for a constructionist approach to learning. The thesis researches various reasons to use The Pedagogical Student Diary, which can be beneficial for both the educationalist and the student. This provided the theoretical basis for such a diary, defined how such a diary can be useful and for what reason. Additionally, the thesis focused on researching whether similar examples of such pedagogical diaries exist and describing such examples. In the end, the theory of the in-depth pedagogical triangle was presented. It can concretize the relationship of the teacher towards the student and teaching materials, and of the student towards the teacher and teaching materials.
Keywords:diary, formative assessment, new teaching approaches, modern strategies to classroom teaching, voice of the student
