Title:The Effect of a 6-Hour Workday on Individual Performance, Psychological Well-Being and Productivity of Employees – The Case of an Enterprise Plastika Skaza, d. o. o.
Abstract:We conducted our survey to determine the effects of a shorter working day of employees, on their psychological well-being, individual work performance and work productivity. To find the answers related to shorter workday and the constructs of psychological well-being and individual work performance, we conducted a survey, with a help of a questionnaire. We worked with the company Plastika Skaza, d. o. o., where we questioned 45 employees. From those, 15 worked 6 hours per day and 30 worked full-time (8 hours per day). We used factor analysis and univariate independent samples tests and found out that employees, who worked for 6 hours per day performed better in certain areas of individual work performance, compared to employees who worked for full time. Related to construct of psychological well-being, we did not find statistically significant differences between employees who work 6 and those, who work 8 hours per day. For analysing productivity, we used a combination of descriptive and comparative research methods. We found out that a shorter workday positively affects the productivity of employees.
