Abstract:Večnacionalna podjetja imajo v Sloveniji vse večji gospodarski pomen. V teoretičnem delu smo opredelili večnacionalna podjetja, procese in modele internacionalizacije, koncept vodenja in sestavine uspešnega vodenja. V preliminarni raziskavi študije primerov smo obe postavljeni hipotezi zavrnili, saj nismo ugotovili, da sta država večinskega lastnika večnacionalnih podjetij in način mednarodne ekspanzije večnacionalnega podjetja dejavnika razlik v pristopih k vodenju teh podjetij.

Title:Leadership approaches according to the differences of multinational companies
Abstract:Multinational enterprises are of growing economic importance in Slovenia. In this master thesis we focus on the study of management approaches in relation to the differences of selected multinational companies operating in Slovenia. The differences we studied were the country of origin of the majority owner of the company and the form of internationalisation of the company. Leadership can be defined as directing and motivating employees to perform the tasks necessary to achieve organisational goals. To be successful in leading employees, management must have a vision and the right mix of leadership styles to ensure that the company achieves its objectives. Proper management of employees leads to revenue growth, increased motivation at work and, as a consequence, increased productivity. The Master's thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part we define multinational enterprises, processes and models of internationalisation, the concept of leadership and the components of successful leadership. The empirical part is a preliminary research in which we conducted a case study of selected multinational companies operating in Slovenia in relation to their approaches to management. In the study we found that the autocratic style of leadership is the least prevalent in the companies, while the democratic style of leadership is the most prevalent. In the preliminary research of the case study, we rejected both hypotheses, as we did not find that the country of the majority owner of the MNEs and the MNE's mode of international expansion are determinants of the differences in the MNEs' approaches to governance.
