Abstract:Uvod: Hemodializa je ena izmed metod nadomestnega zdravljenja končne ledvične odpovedi. Med zaznavanjem stresnih dejavnikov in številom let hemodializnega zdravljenja ni statistično značilnih korelacij. Identificirani sta bili dve kategoriji: stresni dejavniki in doživljanje zdravljenja s hemodializo.

Title:Presence of stressors in hemodialysis patients and their perception of hemodialysis treatment
Abstract:Introduction: Hemodialysis is one of the replacement therapies for end-stage renal disease. Although it enables the patients to live longer, it also subjects them to many stress factors due to the restrictions and demands it brings along. The purpose of this final thesis is to investigate the stress factors and the experience of a hemodialysis treatment. Methods: A mixed-method study was carried out. For the quantitative part, the data was collected with a questionnaire and a data analysis was carried out by using the descriptive and inferential statistic method. For the qualitative part, the data was obtained with semi-structured interviews and an open-ended questionnaire. Results: Hemodialysis patients most often experience restrictions in fluid intake, fatigue and limitations to physical activity. No statistically significant correlations were observed between the perceived stressors and the number of years of hemodialysis treatment. Two categories were identified: stress factors and experience of hemodialysis treatment. Discussion and conclusion: Given that some stress factors can be influenced, it would be a good idea to eliminate them. Although others cannot be avoided, it is important that patients know how to cope with them and have support. It would be good for all patients to receive psychological support to help them cope with the stress factors. Psychological support is even more important for those patients who have not accepted the hemodialysis treatment.
