Abstract:V magistrski nalogi smo želeli raziskati, kakšne izkušnje imajo dijaki, ki so bili identificirani kot nadarjeni učenci/dijaki, s svojo oznako »nadarjenosti«. Želeli smo pridobiti vplogled v njihovo razmišljanje o svoji prepoznavnosti kot nadarjen dijak. V teoretičnem delu smo opredelili nadarjenost v veljavnih zakonih, predstavili načine odkrivanja nadarjenih dijakov v srednji šoli, ter podrobneje opisali same značilnosti nadarjenih dijakov. Podatke smo pridobili s pomočjo polstrukturiranega intervjuja. Pridobljene podatke smo analizirali s kvalitativno analizo podatkov.

Title:The experiences of highly capable students with their gifted label
Abstract:The aim of our master's thesis was to research the experiences of students who have been recognised as highly capable and how they deal with their gifted label. We tried to get an insight into their own thinking of being a highly gifted student. The theoretical part defines talent according to law and introduces ways of recognising talented students in secondary school. Some characteristics of gifted students are also described in detail. In addition we also discussed some problems talented students encounter in their social environment and we described the work with talented students in educational institutions. In the empirical part the outcomes of our research are introduced. The research was conducted using ten secondary school students. The information was gathered on the basis of semi-structured interviews. The collected evidence was processed with a qualitative data analysis. On the basis of the gathered results it was concluded that most students identified as highly gifted are pleased with their gifted label. The students involved in the research found out that they do not use their full potential as they could. Nevertheless, the students believe that they are entitled to their gifted label. Despite the fact that they do not fully fulfil their potential they are not prepared to put more efford into developing it. They claim to be satisfied with their situation as it is. Thus most of them express a rather low level of motivation for the development of their talent despite the opportunities and encouragement they receive from the environment.
