Abstract:V tekmovalnem športu, kjer vsi stremijo za vrhunskimi rezultati in izvajajo podobne treninge, štejejo malenkosti. Predstavlja namreč nujno potreben doprinos k športnikovem fizičnem in duševnem zdravju.

Title:Impact of breathing techniques and cold exposure on athletes
Abstract:In competitive sports, where everyone strives for top results but performs similar trainings, the small differences are the key to the success. Athletes gain advantages over their opponents not only with training, but also with proper regeneration and an increased ability to respond to physical and mental trauma. The aim of the thesis was to learn whether different breathing techniques and exposure to the cold have positive or potentially negative effects on the athlete and his achievements. Only few studies are available in the literature that can confirm a positive impact of breathing techniques, such as for example famous Wim Hof method, on the athlete and his performance in sport. Nevertheless, most researchers agree that breathing techniques are an excellent tool for stress management and for the achievement of mental strength for athletes. Cryotherapy and exposing the athlete to cold or cold water is significantly more studied. Based on scientific data, cryotherapy helps the athlete to better regenerate. Furthermore, it has a positive effect on the improvement of his physical capacities and additionally increases the mental strength of the individual athlete. Based on the scientific data from the published literature we can conclude that it is the combination of practicing breathing techniques and exposure to the cold that positively affects the athlete and enables him to gain better achievements in sport. Combination of practicing breathing techniques and exposure to the cold represents crucial contribution to the athlete's physical and mental health.
