Abstract:Nekoč so višek tehnološkega napredka predstavljali osebni računalniki in stroji v tovarnah, sodobna tehnologija pa avtomatizacijo v 21. stoletju vnaša v prav vse sfere sveta. Teoretični del magistrskega dela smo začeli z opredelitvijo pojmov avtomatizacija in robotizacija storitev, podrobneje smo raziskali avtomatizacijo in robotizacijo v turizmu, izpostavili primere dobre prakse ter nanizali prednosti in slabosti obojega.

Title:Tourism service providers' attitudes towards automation and robotization of services in tourism
Abstract:Once, the highest technological progress of the time was represented by personal computers and industrial machines, but modern technology of the 21st century introduces automation into all spheres of the world. Not even tourism, a distinctly high-contact industry that has always been based on genuine human contacts, has remained untouched. It is precisely because of the specifics of the tourism industry that we decided to investigate the attitudes of tourism service providers towards the automation and robotization of services in tourism. We started the theoretical part of the master's thesis by defining the terms service automation and service robotization, in more detail we searched for automation and robotization in tourism, highlighted examples of good practice and listed the advantages and disadvantages of both. We elaborated on the importance of technological support during the pandemic, and the empirical part of our research was specifically based on researching the attitudes of tourism providers. We conducted six in-depth semi-structured interviews with tourism stakeholders of the tourist destination Maribor. We found that automation is one of the central pillars of modern tourism, but there are limitations, as all tourism providers are aware of the added value that human staff provides to tourism services. Considering technological progress, there is still plenty of room for upgrading and exploring additional possibilities of automation and robotization in tourism, and tourism service providers are also prepared for this – all while protecting and emphasising the authenticity of tourist experiences.
