Title:Employment factors of generations x, y and z
Abstract:There are currently three generations on the labour market, generation X, Y and Z. Generations differ in characteristics and values in both private and professional life. In order to be successful, we need to know the characteristics of generations at the workplace, taking into account the factors of employment that influence their employment decisions and the factors that matter to generations at the workplace and affect their satisfaction and length of employment. However, for the successful staff management, where intergenerational management is of high importance nowadays, we need to know the qualities of generations at the workplace and their values. In the theoretical part of the thesis the general characteristics of generation X, Y and Z have been presented, as well as their factors of employment and role at the workplace. An insight into the the staffing process has been obtained, in which we must take into account the characteristics of generations if we want it to be as successful as possible. In the research work, we have conducted a survey of employment factors, characteristic factors at the workplace and the characteristics of generations X, Y and Z at the workplace by using a survey questionnaire. The results have been processed using Excel and PSPP, which helped us to validate hypotheses based on the results of the t-test. We have learned that there are no significant differences between generations X and Y, but on the other hand, the younger Generation Z differs from them in some factors adhering a significantly greater or lesser importance to them. By testing hypotheses, we found that the employer's financial situation is more important to Generation X than Y, as well as relationships with colleagues, and that Generation X is more inventive at the workplace than Generation Z. Therefore, in the future, employers will have to adapt staff search and choose the right channels for advertising and choose appropriate methods of human resources management, if they want to acquire and retain a generationally diverse staff.
