Abstract:Izbor ustreznega kadra predstavlja izziv za vsako organizacijo, saj je od sposobnosti, učinkovitosti in delovne uspešnosti zaposlenih odvisna prihodnost teh organizacij.

Title:Predictive validity of psychological testing for success of the selection process
Abstract:The selection of suitable personnel is a challenge for every organization because the future of these organizations depends on the ability, efficiency, and work performance of employees. For many years, the Police College has been tackling selection procedures systematically and with well-designed selection procedures that include several different phases. In the current research, we focused on the three phases of the selection process that candidates for police officers go through, i.e. psychological testing, selection interview, and psychological examination. The purpose of the research is to determine which personality traits have the highest predictive validity of candidates’ success in the selection process and whether general intellectual abilities predict the candidate's success in the selection process. 423 candidates for police officers who took part in the selection process in 2021 took part in the research. We analyzed the results obtained using two personality questionnaires – the Eysenck and Freiburg personality questionnaires – and an intelligence test – the series test. It turns out that the most important personality traits that predict success in the selection process are extroversion and achievement orientation. The individual who will be less successful will be the one who will exhibit more neuroticism. Higher scores on an intelligence test also predict success in the selection process.
Keywords:Psychological testing, selection procedure, predictive validity, police officer personality.
