Abstract:V zadnjem obdobju se veliko govori o izkustvenem učenju in gozdni pedagogiki, ki pripomoreta k pridobivanju več izkušenj otrok in učencev.

Title:Encovraging the activity of students to cooperate in scientific subjects in 2nd grade with the help of a therapy dog
Abstract:There has been a lot of talk recently about experiential learning and forest pedagogy, which help children and pupils to gain more experience. The experience of meeting a therapy dog in the classroom can also add value. In this Master's thesis, we focused on the preparation and implementation of science activities in the subject of learning about the environment in Grade 2, in which a therapy dog and its handler are actively involved. After the activities, the pupils wrote down their thoughts and the parents of the pupils were invited to fill in a questionnaire about their views on teaching with a therapy dog. The survey was carried out with 25 pupils attending the 2nd grade of the Pod gora Primary School in Slovenske Konjice. The survey was designed to encourage pupils to be more motivated to participate in environmental lessons. At the same time, we tried to present the dog as a motivator, a good listener and, above all, a friend to the pupils. The pupils looked forward to every environmental lesson with the therapy dog. Although some pupils showed fear of the dog during the first lessons, it turned out to be unnecessary during the following lessons. In the last lessons, all the pupils were happy to work with the dog, doing different activities with it, and the puppy was rewarded for its help in the environmental awareness lessons. Parents of the pupils also expressed their satisfaction with the different way the lessons were organised. It turned out that all parents were satisfied with the way the therapy pair worked in the environmental lessons. At the beginning of the session with the therapeutic couple, some parents said that the children were afraid of the dog, but at the end of the session they were happy because the children had made friends with the dog. Parents would like to have this type of teaching used more often, with a therapy couple in the classroom at least once a week.
