Abstract:Uvod: Nosečnost prinaša veliko novih sprememb, ki velikokrat pustijo psihične in fizične posledice.

Title:The effect of yoga on the psychophysical well-being of a pregnant woman
Abstract:Introduction: Pregnancy brings many new changes, which often leave psychological and physical consequences. Yoga is a method of managing the psychophysical impact of pregnancy on a pregnant woman. The purpose of the final part is to determine in what way yoga affects a pregnant woman. Methods: We performed a narrative review of the scientific literature, which was searched in the databases CINAHL, Cochrane Library, PubMed and ScienceDirect, according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: After reviewing the literature, six articles were included in the analysis. We have found that practicing prenatal yoga during pregnancy prevents or reduces fear, stress, anxiety and depression, improves emotional balance and sleep, increases awareness of changes in the body and understanding of them, affects greater connection with the unborn child and psychological readiness for childbirth. It also affects the reduction of pain, improves mobility and physical performance, and consequently has a positive effect on the postpartum life of a pregnant woman. Group yoga exercises increase social contact with other pregnant women and offer the opportunity to share experiences. Discussion and conclusion: Yoga during pregnancy promotes the improvement of the psychophysical condition of pregnant women and partly mitigates the typical decline in deteriorating mental health in pregnant women. However, some research shows that yoga only has short-term effects on symptoms of depression, and more research should be carried out to establish the long-term effects of yoga on pregnant women.
