Abstract:Uvod: Zdravila kljub svoji pomembnosti predstavljajo globalne izzive pri odstranjevanju. Metode: Naredili smo pregled, analizo, sintezo strokovne in znanstvene literature. Pri tem smo uporabili podatkovne baze CINAHL Ultimate, ScienceDirect in PubMed. Z diagramom PRISMA smo predstavili pregled literature. Vključene raziskave smo prikazali v evalvacijski tabeli, jih razvrstili v hierarhijo dokazov in naredili vsebinsko analizo. Rezultati: Identificirali smo 1398 raziskav.

Title:Ways to educate the patient abot the proper handling of waste medicines
Abstract:Introduction: Despite their importance, medicines represent global disposal challenges. An emerging environmental problem is the presence of pharmaceutical products in the environment, which is associated with increased production and consumption of drugs. The purpose of the thesis is to find out how healthcare professionals could contribute to teaching patients how to handle waste medicines. Methods: We made a review, analysis, synthesis of professional and scientific literature. In doing so, we used the CINAHL Ultimate, ScienceDirect and PubMed databases. With the PRISMA diagram, we presented a review of the literature. The included research was shown in an evaluation table, classified into a hierarchy of evidence and made a content analysis. Results: We identified 1398 studies. We included 7 articles in the final analysis. Research has shown that the vast majority of countries lack patient education on how to handle waste medicines. We found that the vast majority of patients would act correctly if they were given information about proper handling. Discussion and conclusion: Research suggests that, despite clear guidelines on how to handle waste medicines, there are large discrepancies in most countries. There is too little emphasis on patient education, on teaching the negative consequences of wrongly delivered or discarded waste medicines. Therefore, in most studies, they come to the common opinion that the guidelines should be unified. In this case, a large share of education would be taken over by healthcare professionals, who would explain to patients about the possibilities of proper disposal of unused or expired waste medicines.
