Abstract:Uvod: Čustvena inteligenca je sposobnost zajemanja, upravljanja lastnih čustev ter razumevanja in poznavanja čustev drugih ljudi. Izobraževanje o čustveni inteligenci bistveno izboljša odločanje medicinskih sester, kar vodi k večji poklicni kompetenci in zmanjševanju poklicne izgorelosti.

Title:Emotional intelligence and clinical decision making in nurses
Abstract:Introduction: Emotional intelligence is the ability to capture, manage one's own emotions and understand and know the emotions of other people. Emotional intelligence is a key factor that influences the decisions and actions of nurses and directly shapes the quality of healthcare. The purpose of the final thesis was to determine how emotional intelligence affects the clinical decision-making of nurses. Methods: Descriptive method was used. Literature was obtained from international databases: CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed, MEDLINE, ScienceDirect and Cochrane Library. When searching the literature, we determined the criteria for inclusion and exclusion. We have shown the process of searching and selecting relevant literature on the PRISMA diagram. The content analysis method was used for data synthesis. Results: Research has shown that high emotional intelligence of nurses improves the quality of health care, which both nurses and patients confirm. Education about emotional intelligence significantly improves nurses' decision-making knowledge, which leads to greater professional competence and reduced professional burnout. Higher emotional intelligence scores are associated with better communication, greater patient satisfaction, and more effective coping with stress. Discussion and conclusion: Emotional intelligence is a key factor for successful clinical decision-making, which should be further investigated and included in educational programs for nurses. Emotional intelligence can improve the quality of health care and the satisfaction of both patients and nurses.
