Abstract:Uvod: Degenerativne spremembe hrbtenice so procesi, ki so posledica številnih dejavnikov, kot so vsakodnevne obremenitve, poškodbe, prehrana, telesna aktivnost in razvade. Znanstveno literaturo smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, Web of Science in MEDLINE. Potek in prikaz iskanja literature smo prikazali s pomočjo PRISMA diagrama. Rezultati: V podatkovnih bazah smo dobili 727 člankov.

Title:The influence of lifestyle on the course of operative treatment of degenerative spine conditions
Abstract:Introduction: Degenerative spine conditions are processes that are the result of many factors, such as daily loads, injuries, diet, physical activity and vices. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of lifestyle on the course of operative treatment of degenerative spine conditions. Methods: We reviewed, analyzed and synthesized the scientific literature related to our research question. We searched the scientific literature in the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, Web of Science and MEDLINE. The flow and presentation of the literature search was shown using the PRISMA diagram. Results: We found 727 articles in the databases. 9 articles were included in the analysis. We found that smoking and excess body weight are the most frequently mentioned factors affecting the outcome and complications after spine surgery. Low body weight and alcohol also have an influence, but due to the lack of literature, it's difficult to draw conclusions about their influence. Discussion and conclusion: Based on the findings of the identified research, we can summarize that an individual's lifestyle strongly influences the course of operative treatment of degenerative spine diseases. Among the systemic factors, smoking and excess body weight have the greatest influence. Lifestyle is an important element of an individual's health, as it determines the onset and outcome of the disease.
