Abstract:Zaključno delo "Vpliv mežiškega narečja na poimenovanje sličic pri predšolskih otrocih, starih 5 in 6 let" vsebuje teoretični in empirični del.

Title:The influence of the mežica dialect on picture naming by five- to six-year-old preschool children
Abstract:The bachelor's thesis titled The Influence of the Mežica Dialect on Picture Naming by Five- to Six-Year-Old Preschool Children consists of theoretical and empirical parts. In the theoretical part, speech development in children, its factors and the encouragement of speech in preschool education are introduced. Additionally, language topics, such as language, Slovenian language, social forms of language, the use of standard and colloquial language in preschool education and the Slovenian dialects with a focus on Carinthian and Mežica dialects are discussed. In the empirical part, the results of our research conducted in Mežiška Dolina are presented. We aimed to examine whether the children from Mežiška dolina could recognise the objects in pictures and whether they would use standard or colloquial expressions while naming them. Furthermore, we were interested in children's recognition and understanding of standard expressions for everyday objects, their use of words (standard or colloquial) in their second attempt at naming them, and the possible linguistic differences in the Mežica dialect according to the geographical location. The children who participated in our research mainly recognised the objects in pictures and generally used colloquial expressions when naming them. Most of them recognised the standard terms for the mentioned objects as well. However, when they were asked to name the pictures again, the colloquial expressions were used more frequently than the standard ones. Some language variations within the Mežica dialect occurred as well.
