Abstract:Uvod: Psihiatrična urgentna stanja zahtevajo specialna znanja za zagotavljanje varnosti in kakovostne oskrbe pacientov. Zaposleni s srednješolsko izobrazbo (PV = 3,42; SO = 0,57) niso imeli statistično slabšega znanja v primerjavi z zaposlenimi, ki imajo višjo stopnjo izobrazbe (PV = 3,50; SO = 0,57) (U = 1016,000; p = 0,087). Delovna doba ni statistično povezana z boljšim znanjem zaposlenih v zdravstveni negi (r = –0,008; p = 0,931). Razprava in zaključek: Zaposleni na področju duševnega zdravja so imeli boljše znanje. Visoka izobrazba ali daljša delovna doba nista nujno zagotavljali boljših rezultatov. Ključno je stalno izobraževanje, praktično usposabljanje in boljša vključitev psihiatrične vsebine v študijske programe.

Title:Knowledge of psychiatric emergency conditions among nursing professionals and nursing students
Abstract:Introduction: Psychiatric emergencies require specialized knowledge to ensure patient safety and high-quality care. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the knowledge of nursing students and healthcare professionals regarding psychiatric emergencies and to compare mental health professionals with professionals from other departments. Methods: In the empirical part, we used a cross-sectional study with a survey method, and the data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 29.0 and Excel. The survey was conducted from April to August 2024. For the analysis, we used descriptive non-parametric statistical tests: the Mann-Whitney U test, the Kruskal-Wallis test, and Spearman's correlation coefficient, with a risk level of α = 0.05. Results: The study included 218 individuals (26.2%). The knowledge of employees in the field of psychiatry and mental health (AM= 3.82; SD = 0.31) was statistically better than that of healthcare workers outside the field of mental health and psychiatry (AM= 3.48; SD = 0.63) (U = 561.000; p = 0.025). Employees with a secondary school education (AM = 3.42; SD = 0.57) did not have statistically worse knowledge compared to those with a higher level of education (AM = 3.50; SD = 0.57) (U = 1016.000; p = 0.087). Years of work experience did not statistically affect the knowledge of healthcare workers (r = –0.008; p = 0.931). Discussion and Conclusion: Nursing staff in mental health showed better knowledge. Higher education or longer work experience did not necessarily ensure better results. Continuous education, practical training, and greater inclusion of psychiatric content in study programs are crucial.
