Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava pomen izobraževanj za prostovoljce Slovenskega društva Hospic. Sledi predstavitev pojma »hospic« in Slovenskega društva Hospic. Zbrane podatke smo pozneje obdelali s fenomenološko metodo.

Title:The Importance of Volunteer training in Slovenian Hospice Association
Abstract:The master's thesis explores the significance of educational programs on volunteers within the Slovenian Hospice Association, with a particular focus on their personal growth as a consequence of participation in these training sessions. In the theoretical section, the concept of adult education is explained, followed by an analysis of the importance of education for volunteers. The discussion then shifts to the role of adult education in individuals' personal development. This is followed by an introduction to the concept of "hospice" and the Slovenian Hospice Association. The central part of the theoretical section focuses on training programs for volunteers within the Slovenian Hospice Association and reviews research on the role of such training in relation to volunteers' personal growth. In the empirical part of the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six female volunteers from the Slovenian Hospice Association, actively engaged in the Maribor Regional Committee. The collected data were subsequently processed using a phenomenological method, offering an in-depth understanding of the transformative role of these educational programs in the volunteers’ personal growth. The findings reveal that the volunteers experienced significant personal development across three key dimensions. Firstly, they reported a profound shift in self-perception and their understanding of life. Secondly, their interpersonal relationships, particularly with close family and friends, evolved as a result of the training. In addition, the study highlights a fundamental transformation in their perception of death.
