Abstract:Magistrska naloga raziskuje povezavo med krščanstvom, umetnostjo in osebno identiteto v sodobnem kontekstu. Teoretični del analizira vlogo žensk v krščanski ikonografiji, zlasti podobo Device Marije, ter raziskuje feministične kritike nevidnega dela žensk v religiji in umetnosti.

Title:Religion and identity through the art of self-performance
Abstract:This master's thesis explores the connection between Christianity, art, and personal identity in a contemporary context. The theoretical part analyses the role of women in Christian iconography, particularly the figure of the Virgin Mary, and examines feminist critiques of the invisibility of women's labour in religion and art. The practical part of the thesis involves the creation of a video essay, which uses self-performance and self-reflection to investigate the author's personal relationship with faith and identity. The thesis combines theoretical insights with practical artistic work, employing Christian symbolism and feminist theory as a framework for exploration. The video essay serves as a medium for introspection and the expression of personal and religious identity, challenging traditional norms and expectations. Key findings include the influence of Christian iconography on shaping women's roles, the significance of invisible labour in art and society, and the role of video art as a tool for exploring identity and faith. The thesis contributes to the understanding of the intersections between religion, art, and identity, particularly through the lens of feminist critique and self-representation.
