Abstract:Magistrsko delo proučuje usklajevanje poklicnega in družinskega življenja zaposlenih v Republiki Sloveniji in Združenih državah Amerike.

Title:Work-Life balance: a comparison between employees in the republic of slovenia and employees in the united states of america
Abstract:This master's thesis explores the balance between work and family life among employees in the Republic of Slovenia and the United States of America. The aim of the research was to identify key factors – such as legislation, organizational support, working conditions, and family circumstances – that influence the perception of successful work-family balance. The theoretical part is based on contemporary literature, emphasizing legislative frameworks and organizational culture in both countries. The empirical part relies on quantitative research conducted through a survey questionnaire in Slovenia and the USA, with a total of 251 respondents. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and statistical tests (t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient) to evaluate four research hypotheses. The results indicate that Slovenian employees benefit from greater legislative and systemic support for balancing work and family, particularly through accessible public services. In contrast, employees in the USA report greater workplace flexibility but face lower financial security and weaker institutional support. The findings confirm the importance of open communication, financial stability, and opportunities for advancement in achieving work-life balance. Based on the results, recommendations are provided to improve working conditions and systemic support in both Slovenia and the USA.
