Literaturo smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed, Cochrane Library in MEDLINE. Prikaz poteka procesa iskanja literature je prikazan s PRISMA diagramom. Vključeni so bili članki v angleščini in slovenščini. Zbrani podatki so analizirani z vsebinsko analizo in opisno metodo dela.

Title:The influence of celiac disease on the quality of life of children and adolescents
Abstract:Introduction: Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder requiring a lifelong gluten-free diet and can affect various aspects of patients' lives. This thesis aimed to investigate how celiac disease impacts the quality of life in children and adolescents and to present key factors influencing their well-being. Methods: We conducted a literature review on the impact of celiac disease on the quality of life of children and adolescents. We searched the literature in the CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and MEDLINE databases. The literature search process is illustrated using a PRISMA diagram. Articles in English and Slovenian were included. Collected data were analyzed using content analysis and a descriptive method. Results: We included eight articles in the analysis. It was found that the quality of life of children with celiac disease does not significantly differ from that of their healthy peers, although there are differences in the areas of social functioning and mental health. Younger children and boys more often report a lower quality of life. Adherence to a gluten-free diet has a positive impact on quality of life. In the content analysis, we highlighted the main theme »The impact of celiac disease on the quality of life of children and adolescents«, which we divided into four subcategories. Discussion and Conclusion: Research indicates that a comprehensive approach to treating children with celiac disease, including psychosocial aspects, can improve their quality of life. We recommend developing effective educational programs and targeted interventions to manage psychological challenges and improve adherence to the gluten-free diet.
