Title:Lifelong learning as a factor in improving the quality of life for the elderly
Abstract:This master's thesis focuses on the significance of ongoing education, its effect on getting older and the standard of living of elderly people. The theoretical part is where the stages of life, the concept of active aging, and the influence of dementia are presented. Included is an overview of the history of adult education, the concept of lifelong learning, and intergenerational learning. The results of a study conducted at the intergenerational centre DANica are presented in the empirical part. The results demonstrate that education has a substantial impact on enhancing the quality of life for older people. We discovered that senior citizens greatly relished frequenting the intergenerational centre, where they could socialize and acquire new knowledge, thereby preserving their vitality. Furthermore, it is believed by all participants that education should be attempted by adults during their third stage of life. This thesis thus highlights the importance of further developing educational programs for the elderly.
