Abstract:Uvod: Opekline so resna zdravstvena težava, ki vsako leto povzroči veliko smrti in dolgoročne posledice.

Title:The social environment support in improving the self-image of the burn patient
Abstract:Introduction: Burns are a serious health issue that cause numerous deaths and long-term consequences each year. They result in physical injuries, pain, and an increased risk of various diseases, such as heart, respiratory, and digestive problems. In addition to physical effects, burns have a significant impact on an individual’s psychological state, leading to low self-esteem, depression, and social isolation. Visible scars may cause stigmatization and difficulties in social integration. Recovery requires comprehensive care, including medical treatment, psychological support, and social reintegration. The study aimed to investigate the impact of social environment support on the self-image of patients with burn injuries. Methods: The thesis was prepared using a descriptive research method. Data for the study were collected from the scientific databases CINAHL Ultimate, SAGE, and PubMed. The process of the literature review was presented using the PRISMA flow diagram. Results: From a total of 229 identified sources, eight studies were selected for the final analysis. The results underscore the essential role of psychosocial support in improving self-esteem and overall quality of life among individuals who have survived burn injuries, as well as in facilitating their ability to cope with both physical and emotional consequences. Discussion and Conclusion: Support from the environment is crucial for improving the self-esteem of burn patients. Family, friends, and professionals help them accept changes, gain confidence, reintegrate into daily life, overcome loneliness, and improve well-being through understanding and encouragement.
