Abstract:Magistrsko delo raziskuje delovno obremenjenost varuhov v Centru za usposabljanje, delo in varstvo Matevža Langusa Radovljica. Delovna obremenjenost varuhov in s tem povezano število zaposlenih v tem poklicu bo v prihodnosti vse bolj pomembna tematika, saj narašča število oseb, ki potrebujejo institucionalno varstvo oziroma oskrbo.

Title:Workload of guardians at the center za usposabljanje, delo in varstvo matevža langusa radovljica
Abstract:The master’s thesis examines the work-related demands experienced by guardians at the Center za usposabljanje, delo in varstvo Matevža Langusa Radovljica. Guardians interact daily with individuals with special needs, providing supervision, instruction, protection, opportunities for socialization, and support with everyday activities. The study aimed to identify key stressors, evaluate the role of organizational support and professional competence, and propose targeted improvements. Using gathered data from the survey for guardians, we tested hypotheses regarding the impact of the intensity of physical and psychological job tasks, managerial accessibility, and self‑rated professional expertise on perceived workload. The findings confirm that high physical and psychological demands significantly elevate guardians’ sense of overload, whereas organizational support helps to mitigate it. The influence of professional competence was not statistically significant. We recommend that the organization reduce caregiver burden by implementing ergonomic tools, providing regular psychological support, encouraging the exchange of best practices among staff, and offering targeted training. The topic of caregiver workload and staffing will become increasingly relevant in the future, as the number of individuals requiring institutional care continues to rise. Given the shortage of adequately trained personnel, this issue will require a comprehensive and systematic response at both the national and institutional levels.
