Abstract:V tej magistrski nalogi raziskujemo povezavo med prehrano, življenjskimi navadami in študijskim uspehom med študenti Ekonomsko-poslovne fakultete v Mariboru.

Title:Attitudes and perceptions of the faculty of economics and business students in maribor on the importance of a healthy diet for success in the academic environment
Abstract:This master’s thesis explores the relationship between nutrition, lifestyle habits, and academic success among students at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor. The research aims to understand how students perceive their dietary habits and the impact of nutrition, physical activity, and sleep on academic performance. The theoretical section reviews literature on the importance of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle for cognitive and physical well-being, while the empirical section uses a survey to assess students’ self-reported habits and attitudes. Key findings reveal that, although most students recognize the value of nutrition and healthy behaviors, many do not consistently apply this knowledge in daily life. Physical activity was identified as slightly more influential than nutrition in achieving academic goals, and peer influence outweighed that of educators. The study also highlights a gap between awareness and implementation, suggesting that knowledge alone is insufficient for meaningful behavioral change. The thesis recommends holistic interventions combining institutional support, peer-led initiatives, and accessible health education. It also emphasizes the importance of personal responsibility, as students must actively engage with available opportunities and commit to positive lifestyle changes. Ultimately, fostering a comprehensive approach to health–including nutrition, physical activity, and mental well-being–is essential for both academic achievement and personal development. The findings offer practical recommendations for universities and policymakers to strengthen support systems and promote student well-being.
