Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava problematiko duševnega zdravja v delovnem okolju in primerja, kako se z izzivi na tem področju soočajo zaposleni in samozaposleni.

Title:Mental health and work challenges: a comparison between employees and self-employed in the modern work enviroment
Abstract:This thesis explores mental health in the workplace, comparing how employees and self-employed individuals cope with related challenges. The focus is on differences in workload, work-life balance, access to support and perceived levels of burnout and stress. Based on theoretical foundations and a conducted survey, distinctions between the two groups were examined. The results show that employees generally report better social support, more frequent feedback, and greater income stability. On the other hand, self-employed individuals experience more autonomy and flexibility in managing their schedules, although this does not necessarily lead to improved balance or reduced stress. Surprisingly, employees reported feelings of burnout slightly more often than the self-employed. Differences were also evident in feelings of loneliness, which were more common among the self-employed, who often lack regular social interaction and opportunities for teamwork. The findings highlight that both employment types bring specific advantages and disadvantages, and that mental strain is present in both groups, albeit for different reasons. These insights can serve as a foundation for developing measures to improve mental health in the workplace and provide tailored support to the self-employed, who often lack institutional protection.
