Abstract:Uvod: Motnja pozornosti in hiperaktivnosti (ADHD) je pogosta razvojna motnja zato mladostniki vse pogosteje iščejo informacije tudi prek družbenih omrežij. To lahko vodi v pojav samodiagnoze. Digitalni viri omogočajo dostopnost informacij, vendar prinašajo tudi tveganja napačnih razlag in širjenja stereotipov. Metode: Pregledali, analizirali in sintetizirali smo znanstveno literaturo in pri tem uporabili opisno metodo, analizo, kompilacijo, komparacijo in sintezo. Znanstveno literaturo smo poiskali v podatkovnih bazah: Cochrane Library, PubMed in ScienceDirect ter dodatno v iskalniku Google Schoolar. Potek izbora člankov smo prikazali s pomočjo PRISMA diagrama. Vključene članke smo prikazali v evalvacijski tabeli. Pomembne podatke iz literature smo povzeli v tematski analizi. Rezultati: V podatkovnih bazah smo dobili 41 zadetkov, v končno analizo smo jih vključili osem.

Title:The impact of social media on self-diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder among adolescents
Abstract:Introduction: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common disorder, and adolescents increasingly see information about it through social media. This can lead to self-diagnosis. While digital sources improve access to information, they also carry risks of misinterpretation and the spread of stereotypes. Methods: We reviewed, analysed, and synthesized scientific literature using descriptive methods, analysis, compilation, comparison, and synthesis. We searched for literature in the following databases: Cochrane Library, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, with additional sources identified through Google Scholar. The article selection process was presented using a PRISMA diagram. The included articles were summarized in an evaluation table and key data were organized using thematic analysis. Results: We initially identified 41 results in the databases and included 8 articles in the final analysis. We found that social media significantly influences the self-diagnosis of ADHD among adolescents. Young people often use online content to recognize symptoms, which may lead to faster help-seeking but also to inaccurate self. Diagnosis. Discussion and conclusion: Based on the findings from the reviewed studies, we conclude that social media plays a crucial role in the self-diagnosis of ADHD among adolescents. Youth often recognize their own symptoms in online content, which may foster a sense of belonging, but also contributes to incorrect self-diagnosis.
