Title:Analysis of the distinction between user-generated and automatically generated content among young people
Abstract:The thesis explores the usage of artificial intelligence on social media content, focusing on students' ability to distinguish between human-generated and AI-generated content. It is based on a survey conducted among students, in which they evaluated whether the content was created by AI or humans. The thesis highlights the importance of critical media literacy and awareness for a better understanding of the effects of AI on information perception in the digital world. We found that students perceive user-generated and automatically generated content with varying degrees of success, as their prior knowledge of artificial intelligence and their education differ. Based on these findings, it would be sensible to consider how to incorporate more educational content on this topic into students’ curricula.
