Abstract:Namen naloge je bil preveriti ekonomsko upravičenost uvedbe dopolnilne dejavnosti predelave in neposredne prodaje govejega mesa na družinski kmetiji Majer.

Title:Economics of introducing a supplementary activity at a self-owned farm
Abstract:The purpose of the thesis was to verify the economic feasibility of introducing a supplementary activity of processing and direct sales of beef on the family farm Majer. The main objectives included a comparison of the economical efficiency between the sale of fattening animals until they enter the slaughterhouse and the sale of meat to end consumers. An investment assessment of the processing and sales area expansion of and a survey of consumer habits and willingness to buy meat directly from the farmer was carried out. The methodological framework included an ecomic analysis of two marketing models (sale to the slaughterhouse and home sales), a SWOT analysis for direct sales, and a survey conducted using the online tool 1KA. The survey questionnaire contained ten substantive and three demographic questions, and 134 people answered it accordingly. The results of the economic analysis indicate that direct sales are financially more advantageous, as they provide a higher income per animal. The investment in the expansion and modernization of the existing processing and sales area proved to be economically feasible, with an estimated payback period of approximately ten years. The survey confirms the willingness of consumers to buy meat from a local farmer, with the following key decision factors standing out: origin, farming method and price. Consumers most often choose 10kg packages and prefer personal collection at the farm. The results point to the fact, that there is a real market opportunity for introducing complementary activities on the farm, which could contribute to higher added value, a greater independence from market fluctuations and a better connection with the end consumer.
