Title:Upgrade of a servo-pneumatic system for handling fragile objects using PLC programming in industrial automation
Abstract:This master’s thesis focuses on the upgrade of an existing servo-pneumatic system designed for handling fragile items. The main emphasis was placed on the synchronized movement of two pneumatic cylinders, between which a delicate object is positioned. The primary objective was to ensure precise and coordinated motion that enables safe transfer without damaging the item. Control of the system is achieved using a Siemens Simatic S7-1200 programmable logic controller (PLC), which, in combination with a servo-pneumatic regulator and two directional control valves, enables synchronized operation of both cylinders. The system operates automatically, with the option of manual control via push buttons on a control panel. Throughout the development process, various input conditions were considered, allowing the system to adapt to different process requirements. Testing confirmed that the system achieves high accuracy in synchronized motion and maintains stable operation over repeated cycles. The results validate the suitability of the selected components and control design for use in industrial environments where careful handling of fragile products is critical.
