Abstract:Vodik postaja eden ključnih energentov prihodnosti, saj omogoča razogljičenje industrije, večjo energetsko varnost in krepitev konkurenčnosti gospodarstva. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljene lastnosti vodika, načini proizvodnje (sivi, modri in zeleni vodik), logistični vidiki ter evropski in nacionalni strateški okvirji.

Title:Potential and challenges of hydrogen implementation in slovenian industry
Abstract:Hydrogen is emerging as one of the key energy carriers of the future, enabling industrial decarbonization, greater energy security, and enhanced economic competitiveness. This thesis examines the potential of hydrogen use in Slovenian industry, with a particular focus on logistical challenges, including production, storage, transport, and distribution. The purpose of the research was to determine the readiness of Slovenian companies for the transition to a hydrogen-based economy, to identify which sectors are most adaptable, and to assess what kind of support is necessary for successful implementation. The theoretical part presents the main characteristics of hydrogen, its production methods (grey, blue, and green hydrogen), logistical aspects, as well as European and national strategic frameworks. The empirical part is based on a survey, which revealed that companies recognize the environmental benefits of hydrogen, but at the same time highlight high costs, insufficient infrastructure, and unclear regulation as major barriers. Energy-intensive sectors, such as steel and chemical industries, appear the most prepared for the adoption of hydrogen technologies. The results confirm that successful implementation requires close cooperation between companies, research institutions, and the state. With adequate European Union (hereafter: EU) support and the development of logistical infrastructure, Slovenia has the potential to become an active part of the European hydrogen economy, thereby achieving significant environmental and economic benefits.
