Abstract:V diplomski nalogi smo raziskali povezovanje matematike in plesa v disciplini twirling ter pogled otrok in njihovih staršev.

Title:The perspective of children and parents on connecting mathematics and dance in twirling
Abstract:This thesis explores the connection between mathematics and dance within the discipline of twirling, focusing on the perspectives of children and their parents. The theoretical part draws on the concept of interdisciplinarity and demonstrates how dance and mathematics intertwine through rhythm, sequences, spatial orientation, and symmetry. The empirical part was based on a study conducted among members of a twirling club and their parents. The results show that children primarily perceive twirling as play, enjoyment of movement, and performance, while most of them also recognize basic mathematical elements such as counting and spatial orientation. Parents perceived the connection between mathematics and twirling even more strongly, particularly in terms of developing coordination, spatial awareness, and discipline. Statistical analysis did not confirm the hypothesis that the length and frequency of training influence the strength of perceiving the connection between mathematics and twirling, suggesting instead that this perception stems from the very nature of the activity. The findings confirm the potential of twirling as a didactic tool for bringing mathematics closer to children in a playful, creative, and natural way. The thesis thus contributes to understanding the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and opens possibilities for their integration into formal education.
