Abstract:V zadnjih desetletjih se je avtomobilska industrija znašla v središču preobrazbe, katere temeljni značilnosti sta postopni umik tradicionalnih pogonov in uveljavljanje elektrifikacije kot osrednjega razvojnega stebra. S tem pristopom bo mogoče podrobneje ovrednotiti neposredne in posredne gospodarske učinke elektrifikacije prometa v obeh državah, zlasti skozi prizmo medsektorskih povezav in vpliva na širšo industrijsko strukturo.

Title:The structural role of the automotive industry in the german and chinese economies
Abstract:In recent decades, the automotive industry has found itself at the centre of a transformation whose fundamental characteristic is a gradual shift away from traditional powertrains and the establishment of electrification as a central pillar of development. At the forefront of this transition are Germany and China, which represent two different strategies for addressing common challenges such as the climate crisis, technological change, and the need for greater energy independence. Germany has taken a gradual approach based on maintaining industrial stability, investing in transitional technologies such as hybrid systems, and working closely with traditional manufacturers. China, on the other hand, has developed a distinctly systemic and centrally directed approach based on accelerated electrification, national strategic orientation, and the development of its own high-tech infrastructure. Although they come from different institutional and economic backgrounds, both countries share a common vision of reducing emissions and establishing sustainable transport systems. A comparative analysis shows that the paths to environmental and technological transition are not universal, but depend on political will, strategic planning, and the ability to adapt industrial policies. The electrification of vehicles is thus proving to be not only a technological change, but also a broader social, economic, and developmental process that will reshape the balance of power in the global automotive industry in the long term. In the rest of this paper, this comparative framework will be supplemented with an empirical analysis based on an input-output table. This approach will allow for a more detailed assessment of the direct and indirect economic effects of transport electrification in both countries, particularly through the lens of cross-sectoral linkages and the impact on the broader industrial structure.
